Strange days

by jim on July 3, 2008

The past few days have seemed kind of strange for yours truly, good things, bad things, and just down right weird happenings.

I know that it seems that I have been taking a break from the blogging / podcasting scene but really, I have been working on a new site which I will be launching soon. I will not cease posting on www.JimMoon.com but it will continue on as my personal blog.

I really needed the new site. With the new site, I will be publishing more “Niche” type posts.

Today is a dreary type of day, relating to weather it really has been a rough week here in central Florida. big storms, high temps and mega lightning. 2.5 inches of rain yesterday which was really needed but not exactly all at the same time!

For me?: I have no real plans today, other than a few errand type runs, and then back to the internet to keep forroughing for a job. I have some good prospects but, still I am awaiting the offers to roll in.

Yesterdays weirdness: was that I needed to make a run over to Tampa Fl. to pickup my nephew. The trip to Tampa is about 1 hour 15 minutes. I jumped into the car and took off for Tampa. The trip was going very well until I got off at the exit. Because of the oncoming traffic I had to “Stomp” on the accelerator, and “Jam” through the gears to get in front of the other cars. Unbeknown st to me, when I did this “High Performance move” it blew the upper radiator hose. Luckily I was only 2 blocks from my destination and was able continue the drive even with all lights, gauges, and engine monitoring freaking out. I am certainly glad it happened where it did, because 20 minutes earlier, this would have required a tow truck. Once I diagnosed the problem, we took a quick trip up to Auto Zone picked up a new hose and antifreeze, and “Viollia!” done, and ready for the trip back home.

The trip back home was uneventful, (except my passenger slept the entire way back!) so it seemed to take longer than usual.

Foiling the attempted break in:

So, last Sunday night about 11:30 pm I was sitting outside just hanging out, a SUV pulls up, stops and I heard some voices of people talking with each other. The SUV pulled into the neighbors driveway (who is on vacation) the occupants of the SUV shut off the engine, weird? I thought so.. I stood up, and started to walk toward the vehicle, to see what they were up to. Soon as the driver saw that I was approaching their vehicle they started up the engine, backed out and sped off down the street. Hmm, I thought that seemed kind of strange.

The next morning, we had found that 3 houses down the same street had been burglarized, coincidence? I think not. I shared all of this information with the police.

It seems that the first 3 homes were probably broken into fist and the criminals were making their way down the street looking for other homes to break into until, I had notice them.

Hopefully they will never return. Lucky for my neighbor I was outside, and his house was spared.

The police are still on the case.

Thanks for reading!

Jim
